About The Office For Clergy Personnel
Two boards assist the Director of Clergy Personnel. The Clergy Personnel Board— composed of two pastors, two parochial vicars, and one priest in non-parochial ministry— advises the Bishop through his Director on matters of personnel policies an
d practices. Every priest and deacon in the diocese has a copy of the Manual of Policy and Procedures. The Director interprets the policies and practices whenever questions arise. The Board regularly reviews the policies as repeated questions may indicate that policies should be clarified or changed.
The Assignment Board is composed of the four Episcopal Vicars, one pastor, and one parochial vicar. The Director of Clergy Personnel chairs the committee, which makes recommendations to the Bishop on clergy assignments. The committee’s recommendations are always the fruit of dialogue and discussion; committee members do their best to determine who is the right person for the job or position. The Secretary for Personnel brings these recommendations to the Bishop for his approval.
The Personnel Director works closely with the four Episcopal Vicars to ascertain the clergy personnel needs in the various agencies and parishes in the Brooklyn Diocese. They are in regular communication with each other as matters and needs of the priests/deacons and agencies arise.

The office also maintains all personnel records of each priest and deacon in our diocese.
